President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred 51 gallantry awards, together with seven Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras and 29 Shaurya Chakras, on team of workers of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State and Union Territory Police right through Segment-I of the Defence Investiture Rite 2026 held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Consistent with the Ministry of Defence, the honours integrated two Kirti Chakras (posthumous), 3 Vir Chakras (posthumous) and one Shaurya Chakra (posthumous), awarded for remarkable braveness, conspicuous bravery and devotion to accountability right through operations in difficult and high-risk stipulations between 2024 and 2026.
The Vir Chakra recipients integrated Colonel Koshank Lamba of the Indian Military and several other Indian Air Power pilots, amongst them Team Captains Ranjeet Singh Sidhu, Manish Arora, Animesh Patni and Kunal Kalra, along different Military and Air Power team of workers recognised for operational gallantry.
The Shaurya Chakra honours have been awarded to team of workers from the Military, Military, CRPF, Assam Rifles and different safety forces for counter-insurgency and safety operations carried out throughout other theatres. The record integrated officials and infantrymen cited for operational excellence and bravado in adversarial stipulations.
The President additionally posthumously conferred awards on team of workers who made the best sacrifice within the line of accountability, together with Sepoy Janjal Pravin Prabhakar and Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, each awarded the Kirti Chakra (posthumous). Rifleman Sunil Kumar and two CAPF team of workers gained the Vir Chakra (posthumous), whilst Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand used to be awarded the Shaurya Chakra (posthumous).
The Ministry of Defence stated the awards recognise acts of indomitable braveness, selfless provider and conspicuous bravery within the face of grave threat.
