Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence targeted in early morning attack; no injuries reported
Unidentified attackers opened fire guns outside the residence of popular film director Rohit Shetty in the Juhu area of Mumbai early Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The incident occurred between 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM. The residents heard the sounds of gunshots, which immediately alerted the police. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the shooting.
The bullet marks were found on a glass panel of a balcony at the building. Various reports indicate that between three and five shots were fired at the residence.
Quick Police Action
The sound of gunshots triggered an instant reaction from the Mumbai Police. The police confirmed that there were indeed gunshots fired at the building where the filmmaker resides. However, the culprits were able to escape before the police could catch them.
The Juhu area is a posh locality where many Bollywood stars reside. The security in the area has been increased due to this incident.
Investigation Underway
Mumbai Police have filed an FIR and are conducting a thorough investigation. Crime Branch officials have been dispatched to investigate the case. Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti said, “Someone fired at the building. Zonal police and crime branch officials are investigating.”
The investigators are currently scanning footage from over 100 CCTV cameras in the region. The building has two gates and over 10 security cameras. The police have sealed off the area and are attempting to find the route the attackers used to escape.
Security patrols in the region have been increased as a precautionary measure.
Motive Still Unknown
The cause of the attack is still unknown at this stage. Rohit Shetty and his family have not made any comments on the incident yet.
The police are investigating all possible leads, but no concrete connections have been made to any other celebrity-related attacks, such as the 2024 firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s home or the recent arrest of critic KRK.
