The Ministry of House Affairs has issued a gazette notification pronouncing the formation of an ‘Empowered Committee’ in West Bengal to inspect and come to a decision on citizenship programs beneath the Citizenship Modification Act (CAA), marking a vital step against imposing the legislation within the state forward of the 2026 Meeting elections.
