In a significant development along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian security forces have arrested a Pakistani national attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory. The incident occurred in the Poonch district, a region that has witnessed heightened tensions in recent months.
The individual, identified as 18-year-old Mohd Sadiq from Pakistan, was apprehended by the Indian Army near the Noorkote area late Wednesday evening. According to security officials, Sadiq was attempting to cross the LoC when he was intercepted by alert troops. Preliminary investigations suggest that he might have crossed the border inadvertently.
Upon his arrest, no incriminating materials were found on Sadiq. He is currently being questioned to ascertain his motives and any potential links to militant activities. The Indian Army has intensified patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents and ensure the security of the region.
This arrest comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including 25 Indian nationals and one from Nepal. India has accused Pakistan-based militants of carrying out the attack, leading to a series of retaliatory measures from both sides.
The situation remains tense, with both nations on high alert along the LoC. The international community has called for restraint and dialogue to de-escalate the situation and prevent further violence.
