Veteran Actor Nana Patekar Loses Patience as Event Runs Late Due to Delayed Poster Launch; Director Vishal Bhardwaj Takes It in Stride

In an unexpected turn of events, veteran actor Nana Patekar walked out of the trailer launch of upcoming film ‘O Romeo’ on Tuesday after being made to wait for nearly an hour at a mall in Andheri, Mumbai.

The 73-year-old actor, known for his punctuality and no-nonsense approach, arrived on time at 12 pm for the scheduled trailer launch event. However, the preceding poster launch, which was supposed to conclude by noon, ran significantly late due to delayed arrivals of cast members, including lead actor Shahid Kapoor.

What Happened

According to sources present at the venue, the day’s schedule included two back-to-back events – a poster launch at 11 am and a trailer launch at 12 pm inside the theater. The poster launch event stretched until 1 pm, leaving Patekar waiting at the venue for close to an hour.

True to his reputation, Patekar stood up in what witnesses described as his “signature style,” expressed his displeasure at being made to wait, and promptly left the venue before the trailer launch could begin.

“Nana got up in his signature style and said that he was made to wait for an hour and left. We didn’t feel bad because we know… That’s what makes Nana Patekar the Nana Patekar,” Director Vishal Bhardwaj said.

About the Film

Despite the pre-launch drama, the trailer of ‘O Romeo’ was successfully unveiled at the event. The film presents a dark romantic thriller set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s underworld.

Shahid Kapoor portrays a dangerous gangster who develops an obsession with a character played by Tripti Dimri. The narrative explores complex themes including love, anger, power, and fear within the city’s gritty streets.

The film features an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar in a pivotal role, Avinash Tiwary as the antagonist, Tamannaah Bhatia, veteran actress Farida Jalal, and Disha Patani. Actor Vikrant Massey will also make a special appearance.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, ‘O Romeo’ is slated for theatrical release on February 13, 2026, strategically timed for Valentine’s Week. However, unlike traditional romantic films released during this period, the trailer indicates a much darker and more intense narrative.

Industry Reaction

The incident has sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms and within the film industry. Many have praised Patekar for taking a stand against what they perceive as unprofessional behavior and lack of respect for people’s time.

“This is exactly why Nana Patekar commands respect in the industry. He doesn’t tolerate unprofessionalism, no matter who’s involved,” commented a senior industry insider on social media.

Film trade analysts suggest the incident has inadvertently generated significant publicity for ‘O Romeo,’ with the film’s trailer and release date now trending on various platforms.

What’s Next

With just over three weeks remaining until its theatrical release, ‘O Romeo’ has already captured audience attention through its intriguing trailer and the unexpected pre-release incident.

As of now, all eyes are on whether Patekar will participate in subsequent promotional events for the film, and how the team will manage schedules going forward to avoid similar situations.
